A very interesting project is happening at the York Theatre Royal. They’re turning the run of the place (artistic director, stage mangers, administrators, the whole lot) over to youth for three weeks. It’s called, appropriately – Takeover 09. The age range of those who can get involved is 11-26, which is a pretty wide range. Clearly some jobs are not going to be handed over to those in the lower bracket.
But still, if companies are going to get youth interested in theatre, in connecting and committing to theatre, this is a unique way to go about it.
