It’s the summer and that means only one thing at Theatrefolk – all of our customers are on vacation. It’s a gross understatement to say that things get a wee bit slow around here.

We love the summer break because it gives us lots of time to plan for the busy fall. One of the projects we’re taking on this summer is getting everything organized under the Getting Things Done system developed by David Allen. His book and system are very scary but already we’re seeing a lot of progress.

Anywhoooooo…. You’re probably reading this post because of the whole “Theatre Books for Free” title and wondering why I’m talking about summer slowdowns and organization plans.

We’re getting rid of some of our books and thought that maybe you’d be interested in getting one. They’re all great resources for drama teachers.

Here’s what we have:

  • Worlds of Shadow – Teaching with Shadow Puppetry by David Wisniewski and Donna Wisniewski (Amazon link)
  • Elizabethan Costumes Paper Dolls (History of Costume) by Tom Tierney (Amazon link)
  • William Shakespeare: The Extraordinary Life of the Most Successful Writer of All Time by Andrew Gurr (Amazon link – Our cover is different and it’s paperback but I think it’s the same content.)
  • Shakespeare and His Theatre by John Russell Brown and David Gentleman (Amazon link)
  • Shakespeare Alive! by Joseph Papp and Elizabeth Kirkland (Amazon link)
  • Shakespeare’s Globe Playhouse - An Introduction, Shakespeare’s England – The Historical Background, and A Life of Shakespeare all by David Toor. We’re giving these away as a trio. (Can’t find these on Amazon nor can find the original publisher, Kenilworth Press from Roxbury Maine. These are short (30ish pages) booklets decently covering their respective topics. Handy for resource material.

Wow! The response on this blew us away. All titles have now been taken

I saw you’d listed some of my books to give away. I’m delighted! If you want some more for free to give away, please email me and I’ll see if I can send you a few more (perhaps different Shakespeare-related books).
    Best.

    Dear Craig
I don’t know if you have access to any of the above materials now but I saw you mentioned Kenilworth Press and the repli-kits that they made in the past. We were looking for these kits in connection with doing Shakespeare’s plays at the high school level. If you happen to see this comment could you email me at espeed@utep.edu if you have any idea of how to find these repli-kits and the other Shakespeare classroom aids? I would appreciate it.
