EXIT Stage Left is a new web series that looks at the back stage follies of a theatre company prepping a play for production. It’s a fun watch for those who have ever been involved with theatre that hasn’t exactly gone as planned.
What made me especially laugh is when the novelist turned first time playwright is asked about the un-written ending, he says ‘ I’ve have a lot of inspiration, I’m really full of ideas, basically I don’t like to talk, I don’t want to jinx it, I don’t like to talk about ideas before they’re set in stone.’ HA! That’s total writer gibberish for, I don’t have a clue what I’m doing…
There’s a mix of script and improv, which I’m not completely sold on. There’s a fine line with improv between sounding natural and ‘hey, I’m being natural!’
There are two episodes up on the website with more to come.
