I love anything back stage and behind the scenes. I have a vivid memory of going to see The Nutcracker, seeing the dancers outside the stage door afterward, and thinking – ‘that’s where I want to be.’ Not long after, I got to sit in the wings of a Christmas panto type show, and I couldn’t tell you one scrap of what the show was about but I still remember the thrill of backstage comings and goings. I love being an audience member, in the know.
To that end, this New York Times Interactive Feature is right up my alley. The feature shows a day in the life of personnel involved with The Norman Conquests, by Alan Ayckbourn. There’s photos and audio from the actors, to props, to audience members, to carpenters as they prepare for performance. All behind the scenes, all backstage – I love it!
