A Lovely Writing Day

30 Days of Development: Lindsay is writing every day for thirty days, and submitting every day for thirty days, and blogging about it every day for thirty days. Whew! Can she do it? Stay posted….

DAY THIRTEEN

Writing: Putting together the Bee Play puzzle, I’ve got the first twenty pages!

Thoughts: More of the same kind of writing today; slow and steady as I put together the pieces. Here’s where my peculiarities as a writer shine through – I actually put together the first twenty pages yesterday, and instead of moving forward today I went back and worked on the same again. I’m a serial re-worker. It’s good work: I clarified the timeline of when events happen, I’m clarifying what the main characters want and how that comes out in the beginning. Taking this bit of dialogue out here, putting it in there. How writers survived before computers, I’ll never know. A lovely day of writing as the rain fell gently. Ike is nowhere near as harmful here as it is in other parts.

It’s going to take everything I have tomorrow to not go back and work those pages AGAIN though. My first drafts are more like a second or third draft by the time I’m through!

Submission: Leaves of Grass to Hot City Greenhouse New Play Festival.
