School is just starting but this is the time of year when we get the most searches for… Christmas Plays.
Today we’re releasing two new titles by Mrs. Evelyn Merritt. The plays are adaptations of Christmas stories that you likely haven’t heard of before and we’re thrilled to be reintroducing them to you in these theatrical adaptations.
A Kidnapped Santa Claus
Based on the L. Frank Baum (The Wizard of Oz) short story of the same name, A Kidnapped Santa Claus details the intrigue taking place deep inside the mountain. Some evil-doers are plotting the unthinkable – kidnapping Santa and ruining Christmas for everybody! Baum’s upbeat storytelling mixed with lovable characters (even the bad guys) make for a delicious Christmas treat.
Strawberries in Winter
Strawberries in Winter is adapted from Aleksander Chod?ko’s The Twelve Months: A Slav Legend. Told by Jack Frost, the play recounts the story of Marouckla, a Slavic Cinderella of sorts. She is ordered by her wicked step-mother and step-sister to do an increasingly impossible series of tasks. Much to everyone’s dismay, she accomplishes them all, with a little bit of help of course.
