Smarty Pants – A New Play by Bradley Hayward

I’m thrilled to introduce you to Smarty Pants by Bradley Hayward, one of the newest plays in our catalogue.

Dallas is a real smarty pants; he can read Hamlet in half an hour! He can’t wait to show off in his new Advanced Placement class. But there’s more Play-doh than Plato and more colouring than Van Gogh. What kind of advanced class is this? Will Dallas figure out Kindergarten High or will he flunk? Who’s the real smarty pants?

A fantastic competition piece that encourages students to develop strong characterizations.

The play is a wonderful exploration of the importance of remembering what it was like to be a child; to never lose our sense of silliness and play.

I recently came across a TED Talk by Tim Brown called The Powerful Link Between Creativity and Play, which analyzes this topic also from a slightly-more scientific perspective. Enjoy the video, and please check out Smarty Pants!
