Teaching Drama

The TDF Theatre Dictionary

Here’s a very promising project from TDF (The Theatre Development Fund) – The TDF Theatre Dictionary.

The dictionary promises to collect, explore, and explain all those strange theatrical words and phrases that we use (Peas and carrots, anyone?). Here’s a video explaining a bit about the project:

Every definition has a video, an in-depth written description, as well as a forum for discussion. Theatre terminology changes from place to place and from person to person, so it’s really neat to discuss the variety of terms used.

The project is a work in progress, so don’t expect a complete theatre dictionary just yet. Here are a couple of examples I particularly enjoyed watching”

The Scottish Play

And don’t miss this stirring tribute to the great George Spelvin. I’m a huge fan of his work :)
