Together, they prove that even when life gets messy, thirteen-year-old minds can figure a lot out in ten minutes or less. An outstanding character challenge.

An after school game of Risk becomes a battlefield for Newton and his buddies, who are coping with secrets, heartbreak, and change. When the pressure causes one of them to snap, they realize they have to rebuild their friendship, one plastic army at a time.

Ruth tries to improve her eighth grade experience by starting an exercise group with Vera and Evelyn in her garage. While spinning their wheels, they figure out how to upcycle their complicated lives.
During spring break, classmates Chester and Beatrice bump into each other at a hotel continental breakfast. As they share an under-cooked waffle, they discover a sweet way to find hope when life gets sticky.
