Welcome to this week’s Spread the Love. It is Football season and we would be much remiss if we did not look at the football themed plays in the Theatrefolk cannon. So we start with The Plucky Pie Murder by Dara Murphy.

In the play, the star quarterback has been charged with murder most fowl. Rooster that is. The mascot for the opposing football team has been done in and all fingers point to the quarterback. Even his own. Craig what do you love about The Plucky Pie Murder?

Well, we are constantly bombarded with requests for plays with lots and lots of girls in them. We’ve got plenty of that. But, every so often we’re thrown a curve ball and someone wants a play with lots of guys in it. This is always my go to play. There’s a football team in the play, so there’s going to be a lot of guy characters. And they’re great great characters too.

The other thing I love is that the audience gets to play the jury in the courtroom trial. And at the end of the play the audience decides whether or not the quarterback is innocent or if he’s guilty. Lindsay what do you love about The Plucky Pie Murder?

Well, what I love about The Plucky Pie Murder and what I love about Dara Murphy is that Dara has a very off beat sense of humour. If you are looking for something that’s off beat, quirky, if you enjoy your comedy a little bit on the dark side, The Plucky Pie Murder is for you. I laughed hillariously the first time I read it and I laugh every time I read it.

That’s it for Spread the Love!
