This resource contains SEL connections to specific games and activities that are commonly played in the drama classroom, and the underlying actions, skills, or outcomes affiliated with those components. Use the provided SEL Component Worksheets to identify SEL connections to other games and activities you use. Lastly, use the Reflection questions to reflect on your personal thoughts and experiences using SEL in the drama classroom.

What if you are working on the Drama One Curriculum and you have an unexpected absence? We’ve put together Choice Board Activities for each unit in the Curriculum. • The choice board is a tic tac toe grid (three rows of three activities) of independent drama activities. • Each square of the grid has a different title of an activity. Each activity comes with an instruction sheet. • There are activities that can be completed in the classroom or at home without internet access. There are a few activities that require access to materials (but are pretty flexible with that definition) or internet access for research. Some activities have a presentation as their final product.

The DTA curriculum, units, and professional development courses can be used to support the IB teacher in MYP, IB-Prep Class, grade 11 or DP Year 1 as they prepare students to engage in the assessment objectives of inquiring, developing, presenting, and evaluating. The materials in the DTA are not authorized by IB; however, they will give you the ability to guide students to think creatively, actively, and critically as theatre-makers and strengthen the skills necessary for students to successfully complete the Year 2 assessment tasks. The purpose of this document is to give you IB direction, vocabulary, and extensions to refer to when reviewing DTA material. Additional assets are included that have connections to specific DTA units.

The Tool of the Actor often puts the student-director in the role of the actor in order to fully understand how to direct them. The Actor's Purpose, the Audition Process, and Communication & Assisting are key tools in this section.

In Part 4 of the Monologue Project, students will identify who they are speaking to and how they feel about that person. Students will examine the relationship dynamics of their characters in relation to other characters in the world of their monologues. This will allow them to approach their monologues from a variety of emotional perspectives.

This tool includes three parts: well of knowledge, leadership, and research, as well as activities to explore the tool of self.

Students will analyze and rehearse a monologue based on their research and answers of various SEL monologue worksheets. By approaching their monologues through the lens of social-emotional learning, students will connect to their scripted material in a more authentic way. In addition, through the process of applying SEL concepts to their monologue performances, students will observe how the components of SEL can be applied to their own real-world situations.
